My Review
I actually hadn’t planned to read this. I’d heard a lot about Colleen Hoover and wanted to try her, but this particular book wasn’t on my radar, and wasn’t likely to be as I wasn’t drawn to the cover. However, that changed last week when I read a review by Jennifer at Mrs. Q Book Addict. She made it sound sooo goood! So I checked my library’s ebook collection and it was available. I downloaded it and finished in just two days!
Other reviewers concurred with Jennifer when she advised that it is best that readers go into the story not knowing too much about the book. While I don’t think knowing more would have dampened my enthusiasm for the book, I am going to respect that opinion and not get too much into the plot. I will just say that I really, REALLY enjoyed this book! While I didn’t like every decision and action taken by the characters, I can say that I really liked and bonded with them all. I really did like the resolution of the story, though I wish the path to get there could have been different. But of course then there would be no story!
There was one loose end that I wish would have been tied up, but I can’t tell you what it is without going into detail into the plot. This is one of those times I wish there was a central place where we could DISCUSS the books we have read! I think this would make a great selection for book clubs!
It Ends With Us is listed in the romance category and in fact, last year won the 2016 Goodreads Choice Award for Romance. I must admit that I’m not usually a romance reader, but I may have the wrong conception of what constitutes a romance novel. I would not have classified this book as romance, but more of a family drama or relationship novel with a bit of romance. In any event, it is a very good story, and I’m not the only one who thinks so. There is a theatrical production being developed. You can read more about that on their Facebook page.

I don't love the cover of this either! I'm glad to hear that in this case, the contents really were better than the cover :)
